The problem of job market nowadays

Recently, there is a phenomenon of job mismatch in the job market: Job vacancies versus un-employed.  The economic downturn after the financial tsunami led to the increasing youth unemployment rate. Moreover, teenagers who are generally named “Y-generation”, are perceived as having low commitment and self-esteem as well as poor communication skills. They are lacking of goals and core values in their personal development while some employers also find it difficult to work with them.

Mag-Lightenment Project 「魔法啓夢」計劃– Magic empowers youths in dream career

To solve this youth unemployment problem, HKCMC had announced to launch its first-ever Magic Training-Mentoring-Job Matching project (Mag-Lightenment Project) in the coming year. Mag-Lightenment means “Magic for Enlightenment”. Our mission is to make 3 dreams come true, namely, (i) to help the unemployed youth get dreamed jobs, (ii) to help employers find their dreamed employees and (iii) to resolve the social problems of job mismatch, youth unemployment as well as intergenerational poverty in the long-run. To ensure a greater sustainability of the project, it will be operated in a form of a social enterprise.

Target

ranges from 15 to 24 years old teenagers who are job seekers

Candidates of the project have to participate and complete the three key stages including:

(1) Magic Enlightenment Workshops (魔法啟航工作坊) – Using magic as a tool to train up self-confidence, communication and problem solving skills of teenagers through experiential learning with mind-set training and personality test;

(2) Mentee-Mentor Enlightenment Program (師友啟蒙計劃) – Inviting volunteers from different sectors to give advice and guidance to the teenagers on industry specific areas; and

3) Job Pair-up (事業對對碰) — Matching jobs for both teenagers and companies.
